Dear Sir/Madam,

Premises Premises – The promise of good professional advice

Ignorance about property issues or not being able to get round to the matter because of other pressing business issues costs entrepreneurs and companies thousands of pounds

We have touched on this before but it is worth repeating that premises are inevitably the second highest cost after wages, and according to the CBI Property Guide 2005 between 10 and 14% of its cost base.

Digby Jones the former CBI head states:

“Managed poorly, property can be an inflexible millstone that prevents a business expansion, inhibits change and acts as a major cost without contributing to its profit. Managed well, property can help support business strategy, facilitate change and enhance business competitiveness”

The answer lies in education, knowing when to call in the expert knowledge and chartered surveyors have a tool which businesses can use and which can also be a useful resource to Solicitors in advising their clients.
